Butterfly - Made in Ahuroa

Sanderson Whanau had a swan plant in the classroom this term.  The very hungry caterpillars ate the plant rapidly.  One caterpillar carefully knitted its chrysalis to our topic book basket.  Over the past few weeks we have kept an eye on the beautiful green chrysalis with tiny gold spots.  Over the weekend it turned dark. This morning we could see the black and orange wings through the shell of the chrysalis.  This afternoon while we were outside at PE .... the butterfly hatched.  We were all so excited.  Here are some photos we took:
